Join our team!

Are you passionate about youth empowerment and marine conservation? Do you want to play a key role in shaping the future of Scotland’s seas? We are on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced Youth Advocacy Officer to join our team!

At YSCS, we believe the future of our marine environments should be shaped by the young people who will inherit them. As our Youth Advocacy Officer, you will have the unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of young people across Scotland by supporting and empowering them to advocate for marine protection and engage directly with policymakers.

What You'll Do:

  • Work closely with our Young Persons Policy Group (YPPG), composed of individuals aged 16-25, to amplify youth voices in marine policymaking.

  • Organise impactful events and secure media coverage on youth-led initiatives.

  • Facilitate discussions with government bodies, the YSCS team, and the YPPG to make stakeholder engagement more accessible to young people.

  • Develop and promote the Youth Manifesto for Scotland’s Seas, capturing the perspectives and aspirations of young people ahead of the 2026 Scottish Parliamentary elections.

What We Offer:

  • A 4-day work week with a flexible working pattern

  • 22.5 days of paid holiday (pro-rata), plus additional time off between Christmas and New Year

  • A matched pension contribution of 5%

  • A small training stipend and support for equipment costs, including a work laptop

If you’re someone who thrives on making a difference and has a passion for youth advocacy and marine conservation, we encourage you to apply.

For more information on how to apply, see here or contact us directly. The deadline is 23rd September 2024.

Note that we welcome applicants who may not possess all the essential criteria but who are passionate and believe they would be a strong fit for the role.
